Prayer of St. Francis of Assis
Lord,
Make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
Where there is discord, harmony.
Where there is error, truth.
Where there is wrong, the spirit of forgiveness.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console.
To be understood as to understand.
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

I ask all to say a prayer for my “best friend” Rocky who I have had for 14+ years. We will be putting him to sleep tomorrow so I humbly ask all dog/animal lovers to please say a prayer for Rocky who has been the best friend one could ever imagine. I only hop that I am at least somewhat like him…he has and always will be God’s gift to me. I love you Rocky with all my heart and soul forever!

This prayer is like poetry to me. I love it and always have. I found this site, by doing a search on my favorite patron saint, St Francis of Assisi, to learn about his life. When I pray to God, when I am feeling down, often I ask St Francis of Assisi to pray for me. When I think no one cares, I know that HE does. I also love the 23rd Psalm of David. Both of these prayers are to me, so meaningful, and give me hope that I can be an instrument of goodness and hope for a better world. Life is not easy and fighting for justice, for those less fortunate, even harder. Sometimes its easy to feel the fight is bigger than we are. But when I take the time to consider these beautiful lines, as with the 23rd Psalm, I am comforted and rejuvenated as well.
