Thank you, John! I’m grateful to you for this site. I can’t afford a Big Book right now. I am returning to AA after years of trying to make it on my own. I had a belly full of program and a head full of pain. I got back to the meetings when a friend asked for a ride to a meeting. I walked into the meeting helping my friend, and realize the insanity of my semi-sober death walk of a life without working this program. I felt at home. Your site and these MP3s have helped me. Now I have the book in my head, if not in my hands. My current life consists of driving my friend to meetings, court dates, work, and meetings. Without this book, a good sponsor, and daily meetings, I would be some sort of savior, a victim, or living somebody else’s life. My feelings are returning and the drama is dialing down to a setting worthy of reality. This thing works, you know. Ain’t that the damnedest thing? It works.

If you can not find anyone at a local AA fellowship willing to give you a big book, please shoot me an email (skylab.fitness [at] gmail.com) and I can mail you a mini big book for free (I have a drawer full of them).

    • #16 written by ukjohnd 1 year ago

      Hi Steve

You should be able to right click in your browser and “Save Target as……” to save the mp3 to your hard drive.

You should then be able to transfer to an portable music player of burn to CD.

Thanks for your time to do this excellent piece of work. A little unordthodox maybe but I have started swimming again regularly and so bought myself a water proof MP3 player, rather then listen to mindless pop I thought of and audio book! What better than the big book ! there’s more than one way to receive the message :)

Thanks John for the service you have provided. I spend a lot of time on the road and oftentimes traveling really puts me in an odd state of mind. This will really help me keep my focus.
On a similar note, I often download audiobooks from a free website called Librivox.org, where audio recordings of various works of literature within the public domain can be freely downloaded. As of right now they do not have a reading of the Big Book. If you feel like you have the time, check the page out, and I’m sure they’d welcome your recordings.

This is great! I am dating an alcoholic and have been going to meetings with him. I am going to see if they have had access to this audio because I am sure there are some that struggle with reading and this would be very helpful.

    BIG THANKS!

  • #23 written by Frank 2 years ago

Please email the Big Book (in a single file) to me. One of the guys I sponsor cannot read.

    Thanks much,
    Frank

    • #24 written by ukjohnd 2 years ago

      Hi Frank,
I’m afraid the BB as one file is too big to put on site or email. You can download each file one by one using “Right Click” on MP3 link and “Save as…”

The MP3′s could then be put on CD’s or an MP3 player/IPOD I’ve done this myself for people who have difficulty reading.

    Hi,
I have put the Big Book files together as a single MB4 audiobook file (I also added the 12×12). The file will play in any player (iTunes and windows media player plus others). It is handy for those with an ipod or want a bookmarkable file together in iTunes etc. I will be happy to email it to you if you want to put it on your site, for those who may find it useful.
    All the best
